The Scott McDevitt Quintet consists of guitarist Scott McDevitt, drummer Kevin Van Geem, bassist Don Corey, Tenor Saxophonist Gus Slayton and Trumpeter Levis Draghoulin. This group has evolved and developed through several incarnations since 2002. Members have come and gone over the years, but the goal of the group has remained: play funky music you can dance, or just groove to.

Our destination is where jazz meets funk - a road travelled by many before us. Some of the group's influences include John Scofield, Soulive, and of course James Brown. We cover these artists, as well as many others, and also perform original compositions. While the rythym section holds down a steady groove, the tenor and trumpet add the melodic punch. Scott does all the arranging, which makes full use of the harmonies one can only get with horns.
