High Tone Jazz Guitar Duo

The Hightone Jazz Guitar Duo consists of guitarists Scott McDevitt and Jason Butterworth. The two met at Portland State University in 2002 and began practicing together. After a few months they had developed a repertoir and began playing around the Portland area.

The Duo plays mainly jazz and blues standards in a traditional format. Both musicians play hollow body archtop guitars with a clean sound and style reminscient of the famous Blue Note players like Grant Green and Kenny Burrell. This group is quite versatile, considering the instrumentation, and changes with the mood of the room. The players easily transisition from beautiful ballads during the dinner hour to soulful blues as diners become drinkers.
